Nick Miersma

I came to financial services by a less conventional route, and I think that makes me better at it. Growing up the son of a dairy farming family in California, moving frequently throughout my early years, and eventually settling in Texas for college and beyond, gave me a different kind of foundation than most people in this industry carry. A background in chemistry and theology isn't what most people expect to see on a financial representative, but it reflects who I am: someone drawn to questions that matter, curious about how people think, and genuinely invested in the people I work with.

This was a deliberate mid-career change. After years in other professional work, including nearly a decade living abroad with my family, I returned to Lubbock and decided to direct my life experience toward something practical and lasting. Living overseas is also where I developed a high-level fluency in Russian, and I'm currently working to revive my Spanish. I had come to believe that knowing how to manage money well is one of the most consequential things a person can learn, and one of the least commonly taught. That belief is what brought me here and what keeps me here.

My role is to represent FourWord Financial's Lubbock office, meeting with clients, servicing their ongoing needs, and serving as the firm's local presence in a city I know well and care about. Before joining the team, I worked at New York Life.

My wife Jennifer and I live in Lubbock with our six children, who range from elementary school to near-adulthood. Outside of work, I stay active through sports, enjoy chess, Rubik's cubes, and logic puzzles, and devote a significant amount of my time to my church community at Redeemer Church.
